Today on the Imagine Alba Podcast, we celebrate Valentine’s Day with a look at Scottish wedding traditions. Scotland is such a romantic country in which to get married, thanks to a plethora of gorgeous settings, whether it is a castle, a cathedral, a bucolic chapel or against the background of a stunning landscape- not to mention the rich and colourful wedding traditions that are still practised today, from a groom decked out in kilted finery, to the blackening ceremony to a ceilidh that has everyone twirling and stepping into the wee hours!

A Highland Fling Wedding
Here are some pics of our own Scottish Highland wedding in July 2013...
The newlyweds at McCaig's Tower, Oban in MacLachlan Modern tartan. Michelle is showing her Texas heritage in cowgirl boots and a simple lace frock, accessorised with a shawl in the groom's tartan, pinned with his clan badge. MacLachlan Modern tartan and kilt pin with the clan crest and motto, "Fortis et fidus" which means "Brave and Faithful." The tartan and pin are accessories in traditional Scottish weddings.
