Bon Awe Historic Iron Furnace
Bon Awe Iron Furnace in Taynuilt is the most complete charcoal-fuelled ironworks in Britain and gives a glimpse into working life in the 18th century.
It operated in the middle of the eighteenth century, with the aim of producing pig iron. Central to this complex was a charcoal fired blast furnace. It is a fascinating site and its scenic location on Loch Etive is a tranquil setting that makes you feel as if you have travelled to the 18th century.
