Castle Stalker
One of the best-preserved medieval tower houses in western Scotland, Castle Stalker was made famous as Castle Aaargh in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The current towerhouse was built in the 15th century by Sir John Stewart, and its name (Stalcaire in Gaelic) means hunter or falconer, which gives a hint as to its use. Situated in Loch Laich, an inlet of Loch Linnhe, on its own small island, the castle overlooks the Lynn of Lorne and the Isle of Lismore, which provides a most dramatic setting and photo opportunity. The nearby Castle Stalker Cafe provides an overlook and a stop for breakfast, lunch or a snack.
